Just upgraded to XP. On startup it tells me I need to
uninstall McAfee Security Center and reinstall it as the
current installation is incompatible with XP.
This is an umbrella application which has McAfee virus
checker and personal firewall as components, I remove
these components first as requested by McAfee but
thereafter clicking on uninstall Security Center in Add/
Remove Programmes does nothing.
When I ran an upgrade report before installing XP the
report enumerated two instances of McAfee Security
Center, one with no space between 'Security'
and 'Center'. Perhaps two entries in the registry? How do
I proceed?

Perform a search on the McAfee site using the word "uninstall".

McAfee has different uninstall procedures for each version of their programs.

Thank you, Carey. Couldn't find a search box on that url
but did find something useful about forcing an uninstall
or editing the registry. I'll give it a go.

I took a look at the McAfee site and eventually found a
search tab. Could find info on forcing an uninstall of
VirusScan 7 but not forcing an of Security Center.
I've trie d a couple of times connecting to chat to a
live advisor but each time the chat applet timed out.
Can you post some details here or does the info for
forcing uninstall of VirusScan 7 apply?
