Sounds like you have the French keyboard installed. If you don't need it,
delete it with Control Panel, Regional options, Keyboards and languages tab.
If you do use it on occasion, make sure that it is not selected when you
type in English. The selection is made by clicking on the blue square in the
task bar near the clock.
