I cannot boot up my Windows XP Pro machine (SONY VAIO) as
I don't get as far as the Windows Splash Screen but get a
black screen saying that a System file is corrupt or
missing and that I need to put a CD in and press R.

I have no CDs or floppies on me...I was hoping that I can
go into troubleshooting mode or try to recover the machine
from the HDD using one of the cab files.

Help please!!!!!!!

Hi,

You need to have the winxp set up CD since it contaisn
the tools for repairing. and that option is got when you
run setup for winxp.
