We bought a brand new computer last night and I've been
working on for hours trying to fix the RPC error
message. I tried to STOP RPC but I didnt even have the
option to stop it. I've downloaded every security patch
(28 to be exact) to try and fix this. Microsoft had me
on hold for 3 hours so I still have no clue what is wrong
and how to fix it. My computer shuts itself down
frequently so it's taken a very long time just to
download those patches. Can someone please tell me how
to fix this? I read to reply from "Harish" but I don't
have the option to stop RPC.

thanks,
-Shelley-

Read and follow the procedures outlined in the following articles:

Open XP's "Help and Support" and type: FIREWALL , and hit enter.

Last, but not least, consider purchasing and installing a good
internet security package, such as:

Norton Internet Security 2003
http://www.symantec.com/sabu/nis/nis_pe/

-- Includes Norton AntiVirus 2003
-- Includes Norton Personal Firewall
-- Includes prevention of annoying web pop-ups
-- Includes Parental Controls
-- All in one, easy-to-install & manage package
