On the main screen for WindowsDefender (version 1.14.1389.7) a button "Start
Scan" is displayed, when a scan should be executed.

When using this button, I always get the following error:

"Windows Defender encountered an error: 0x80004003. Invalid pointer"

I have no problem starting the scan from the menu bar.

This is a known bug. Microsoft has fixed this bug, but code containing the
fix has not yet been distributed. Look for it in an eventual update.

There's a new build of Defender available today that may solve that problem.
Check out the Defender web site and download the new one OVER the old one.
That works best.
