This could mean that the Navigation Pane settings have become corrupt.
Start Outlook with the /resetnavpane switch.
Start-> Run; outlook.exe /resetnavpane
If that doesn't work, does it work in Outlook Safe Mode?
Start-> Run; outlook.exe /safe
Considering you had a crash while Outlook was running, it is recommended to
scan your pst-file(s) for errors as well.
