Somehow I have lost the ability to share the \All users\Documents folder
between IDs all within one computer. I can see the folder but I can't copy
anything into it from any ID or delete anything from it.
I'm using XP/SP2 with all updates and admin privileges. My
Computer/Manage/Shared folders/shared shows that the "Documents" item is
missing though the others (C$, E$ print$ etc) look fine.
Help says it should be possible to add new shared folders via Action/New
File Share, but this option does not exist in my Action drop-down box.
Finally there is a command NET SHARE which should be able to add new Shares,
but the command:
NET SHARE Documents=C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents /UNLIMITED
seems to have a syntax error, because it is not executed. Commands like
NET SHARE
NET HELP SHARE
NET Print
all work fine

Any ideas please? or do I have to re-install XP?!

Shares are only used to provide network users access to a folder and you say
all within one computer?? It sounds like your permissions are not correct
for the share. The user/group would need write NTFS permissions to the
folder to copy anything into it. See the links below on how to configure
folder/NTFS permissions. --- Steve

http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;308421 --- if you
can not change permissions

Thanks - you're a star! Because I had preiously always used simple file
sharing, I had never seen the security tab - what a difference it makes!
Sincere thanks again.
