From where are you trying to resolve the name you type? Is this from your
contacts or the GAL?

After furious head scratching, baypond asked:
| Using Outlook 2003 with Exchange 2003. When I try to open a shared
| calendar using the first name of a contact in my contacts which is
| also the mailbox name on the server, I get an error message saying
| "Unable to display the folder. Cannot open the mailbox for this user
| because the user does not have a mailbox for this server". When I
| click OK on the message box, the name shown is the display name for
| the contact; i. e., full name. The Exchange mailbox name is Joe, for
| example, and the contact name is Joe Smith. Is there some way to
| actually tell Outlook that the mailbox name on the server is Joe?
