CANNOT SEND NEW EMAIL ERROR OBJECT NOTFOUND

Microsoft xp machine
outlook 2003 basic edition
can receive email and reply to that email but
when i sent new email get error message
"The operation failed. An object could not be found"
Any Ideas what is causing this problem?
