I have been using Windows e-mail for months now and suddenly this week my
boxes won't get sent from my inbox. I reviewed others issues that sounded
similar and have already tried turning off my Norton e-mailing scanning (even
though it was never an issue previously.) That did not help, so I uninstalled
it also and still no go. The message I am getting now is:

The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'Wholesale Inquiry',
Account: 'mail.sugarbabyinc.com', Server: 'mail.sugarbabyinc.com', Protocol:
SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

Shaw is my provider - not sure what other info I can provide.... help!

WHEN I WANT TO SEND A MESSAGE, I CANNOT JUST TYPE IN A FEW LETTERS OF THE
ADDRESSEE AND HAVE THE NAME POP INTO THE 'TO' SLOT. I HAVE TO CLICK ON A
LITTLE BOX AND THEN SCROLL DOWN TO THE NAME. THIS IS SLOW. IS THERE A
QUICKER WAY?

That is known as the auto-complete function.
Windows Mail does not auto-complete from your list of contacts.
It uses a separate list of the last 29 recipients you've sent mail to.

The auto-complete feature works perfectly in the replacement
program, Windows Live Mail, which uses the standard contacts list
for auto-completion.
You are encouraged to upgrade to the newer mail program:

thanks for the reple - not great with computer jargon I'm afraid - as I
mentioned Shaw is my provider so is it not also my ISP that you ask for
below?? If not, where I can I find my home ISP provider info?? Thanks so much
for helping...

Sorry, didn't mean to ask for your ISP when you had already provided
that information. To save time I often use standard responses.
Shaw's settings are a bit complicated because the mail server name
depends on your geographic location, see
http://www.shaw.ca/en-ca/CustomerCar...erverNames.htm

Do this:
In Windows Mail go to Tools, Accounts, select your sugarbabyinc mail
account, click Properties, Servers. Change the name of the outgoing (SMTP)
server to shawmail.cg.shawcable.net. The 'cg' part will change depending on your
location Do not change the incoming server. Also, make sure that the
"My server requires authentication" option is NOT checked.
Click OK. Try sending.

Sorry;

It seems both my Shaw email and my Hounding Me email crashed and I was not
receiving any emails. I ended up taking off the second account entirely
(stophoundingme) and getting Shaw to fix whatever else may have happened.

So now I'm back on and I have tried to reinstate my second account but it
still will not sent. It has a different error message than last time. I am
receiving emails so I believe the account is configured correctly. This is
the message.

An unknown error has occurred. Subject 'Test', Account:
'mail.stophoundingmedogtraining.com', Server:
'mail.stophoundingmedogtraining.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '421
Cannot connect to SMTP server 69.89.25.154 (69.89.25.154:25), connect error
10060', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 421, Error Number: 0x800CCC67

I just noticed it has Port:25.. I am going to change to 26 (which it was
before). But I don't think that is the issue?

I don't think that is the issue, but it doesn't hurt to try port 26.
Also, make sure you have send authentication enabled.
Go to Tools, Accounts, select that account, Properties, Servers.
The box for "My server requires authentication" must be checked.

Thanks for all your help, Gary. It appears to be working today. I did
change back to Port 26 and the Authentication was already checked off.. it
seems this issue arises when the ISP is one account and another account is
added from another server.. and it seems so random?.. like today its okay but
tomorrow is another day?..

Who knows.. I may just be lucky from here on in.

Do you happen to know how I can get a logo graphic to be a part of my
signature line? Windows Mail does not seem to want to accept a jpg as a
file? I am probably missing something really obvious but I have been through
all the help items and am no further ahead. Thanks!
