I have been sending and receiving email on Windows
Mail all day then suddenly this evening (west
coast time) it stopped. As of right now I can no
longer send mail. I haven't changed a thing. The
settings are 465 w/SSL and 995 w/SSL. Server Req.
Auth. is checked. Incoming mail is the
ipostoffice server, and the Outgoing mail is
imailhost. This is the msg. I've been receiving:

The message could not be sent. The authentication
setting might not be correct for your outgoing
e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot
Windows Mail", and read the "I'm having problems
sending e-mail" section. If you need help
determining the proper server settings, please
contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '****@yahoo.com'.
Subject 'Re: test', Account: '*****', Server:
'imailhost.worldnet.att.net', Protocol: SMTP,
Server Response: '450 yahoo.com backlog too large
to queue [domain may be overloaded or down]',
Port: 465, Secure(SSL): Yes, Server Error: 450,
Error Number: 0x800CCC79

Side note: I was emailing myself at my Yahoo
acct. to test. There is no backlog in my Yahoo
acct. It seems the problem might be with Yahoo
addresses only. I just found out I can email
myself at my att acct. and any other email address
except Yahoo. Any thoughts??

Thanks for your help!
HMB

Sounds like you ran into a temporary server hiccup
at the Yahoo mail server. I just sent a test message to
my yahoo.com address, and it worked fine. So try again.

What is the error message?
Right-click on it, select Copy, then paste it into a reply.

I cannot send email using Windows Mail. I keep getting error message:The host
'windows' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server
name correctly.
Account: 'windows', Server: 'windows', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110,
Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D. I contacted
my ISP to repair or correct, but every time I try to send mail, I get above
error message. HELP!

"windows" is not a correct mail server name.
Who provides your email service? Or to ask that question another way,
what is the part of your email address after the @ symbol?
Your mail provider will typically have a web page that shows how to
set up an email program. If you need more help, tell us the name of
your email service provider. If you currently don't have an email address,
we can help with that also.
