I cannot send e-mail from my outlook client, getting an error message
'0x800CCC78 cannot send message'.

I'm up to date on all software, using Office 2007 on Vista.

My e-mail vendor is amenworld.

Incoming works fine, but to send e-mail I have to go into my vendors email
client and send from there to retain my e-mail address (E-Mail Removed)

This originally started on the 9th September and ran for 2 weeks went away
for 2 or 3 days and then came back, and is still with me.

Is this company your ISP? Do you authenticate properly with the outgoing
server? Many ISPs block the use of 3rd party SMTP servers and many email
providers require authentication to send.

Diane, yes www.amenworld is my ISP. It used to work perfectly, then on the
9th September this error appeared. I did speak to them, but nothing had
changed.

I run a blog and clicked on a link in a comment on that day, perhaps that
had something to do with it?

When I Google the error, lots of sites suggest I have some sort of registry
corruption. I happy for someone to hop on my machine and take a look.

You're an MVP? I have a big gun on my side, cool.

Regards, John.

I'd normally say clicking the link had nothing to do with it, but maybe the
link went to a page that contained an exploit and that screwed things up.

Does your ISP support using alternate ports to send? If so, try using it -
587 is most commonly used.

What authentication setting do you use? Tools, Account settings, double
click the account and click more settings, outgoing server tab.
