I have Windows XP and a Canon printer. The computer was
able to send faxes in the past and inlcuding while having
this printer. When I go to print and I select in
properties from Canon printer OR the Fax I select Fax.
It still however does not fax. The printer starts up and
in prints out the page on paper.
I have tried installing Windows Microsoft Fax Driver but
it comes up with a list of names of drivers for printers.
It does not recognize the fax BUT the fax is shown in the
control panel under Printer and Faxes. The Canon printer
is there too.

Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

Karl

If I understand what you're saying, when you attempt to print to the Fax
printer, you print to the Canon instead, is that correct? Does the Canon
print regardless of which printer you select? If you right dclick the Fax
printer and select "Properties", do you seee a "Devices" tab and, if so,
what does it show?

Yes that is correct it prints to the printer not the fax
like I want it to.

If I right click on it and go to properties it shows the
message "The Microsoft Shared Fax Driver printer driver
is not installed on this computer. Some printer
properties will not be accessible unless you install the
printer driver. Do you want to install the driver now?"

If I click yes it goes into the Add Printer Driver Wizard
where I have to choose a driver for a printer, the
maunfacturer and the printer.

Problem solved.

Just a mote for anyone having the same problem as I had.
I went into the control pannel to the area for adding and
removing programs. I went to the area for adding and
removing windows comonents. I un installed the Windows
fax stuff, then I went and re installed it. It appears
to be coming up with the right windows now for the fax,
although I haven't had the opportunity to send a fax
since the last time I needed to.

Thanks for the feedback support that I did receive. It
is always appreciated.
