We have a web site, and email is used through the websites mail system.
I can receive email using Outlook 2007, but it refuses to send any emails
(cannot connect to your outgoing SMTP email server. It just times out.
Sometimes it just ignores the Outbox messages completely.
It is set up correctly. I can send email through web mail and and Mozilla
Thunbird with no problems.

This is only for messages that I send. I have no trouble receiving them, it
just won't let me send any. I can send & receive from Thunderbird and Web
Mail.

Are you scanning your incoming and outgoing emails with your AV. Do you also have your anti spam filtering set.

Try and disable both and test.

Just tried it. Still won't send any messages. Just leaves them in the Outbox
and tells me it cannot connect to the mail server.

I'm using AVG. But switching off doesn't help.
This doesn't affect IP mail, just web site email.

Alan

This sometimes happens. You will need to uninstall your AVG and then re-install it without the email integration option.

Computer 1: (At Work) Windows XP, Outlook 2007, AVG Anti Virus. Will receive
but not send.

Computer 2: (At Home) Windows Vista Ultimate, Outlook 2007, One Care, Will
receive not send.

But
Mozilla Thunderbird (at work) - Will send and receive
Windows Mail (Computer 2): Will send but not receive.
Web Mail (both): Will send and receive.
