Set up outlook 2007 on my new vista laptop. Can receive email and reply to
the received email but I cannot create the email from scatch, forward or send
directly via the contact record. The email goes out (ie appears in the sent
folder) but does not arrive. It does arrive if I reply to the received
email. I have treid it with typing the correct name in the To/CC/BCC boxes
and also using the auto complete function.

The funny thing is that for a few email addresses I can create an email
from scratch and they are received fine. All very perplexing? I have tried
deleting my outlook.nk2 file in case their was a corrupted address in the
auto complete cache. Using a Belkin 54g router to connect to web.

What mail account type are you using?

If you use a virus scanner that integrates with Outlook, disable its
integration and try again. It could be that your outgoing scanner drops the
messages.

Using a POP3/SMTP and also a hotmail account. Problem occurs with both. I
have already disabled the virus scanner.

The fact that the emails arrive when I select reply to but not when I create
them from scratch is the most perplexing thing.

Any error messages back?
Try with a delivery receipt to check if the messages are being delivered. It
might be as smile as the message going to someone else's Junk Mail.

No error messages comes back. Will try with a delivery receipt.

No messages do not get stuck in recipients junk mail - have checked this.
ALl those replied to appear in their inbox fine and w/o delay.

Have also been able to create an email from scratch and send on my old pc
sitting alongside my new vista laptop. This goes through the same route and
uses the same pop/smtp settings. All message from here arrive no problem.

You said you disabled the virus scanner; did you only disable the virus
scanner or did you actually disable its integration with Outlook? It's a
major difference ;-)

When you logon with another user account to the same computer does it work
then? This will help determine if it is a configuration issue on the local
machine or an installation issue.

Virus scanner - what I meant was that the new lapton came with a free 30 days
mcafee sub. I did not take this and deleted mcafee. I will load AVG - but
have not yet. Maybe there is some legacy of mcafee linked to outlook? Vista
has so much protection it is tricky to know where to start to look to check
this out.

It is clearly something that is stopping all namesto this email domain as
have tried (E-Mail Removed) and (E-Mail Removed) and it has failed to get
thro. Some of these names were not in my address book or had previously been
tried. But again they worked if I replied to an email from them. Emails to
other domains seem to be ok.

Will try logging on as new user and let you know outcome.

Thanks

OK resuts of further tests - thank you for your suggestions but still getting
no where

1. Setting a new profile/user ac did not make a difference
2. I ensured all virus scanners turned off but did not help
3. I was able to send an email from word (file/send to) by typing in the
problemname@problemdomain
4. I was able to send emails to other names@problemdomain

HELP
