Cannot see workgroup computers after installing SP2 on Win XP Home

Prior to installing SP2 on my Win XP home edition, I was able to see all
computers in my workgroup and share data. The other computers are running
Win XP Professional, but do not have SP2. After the upgrade, I could not see
the other computers. I turned off the firewall after the upgrade thinking
that was the issue, however it didn't resolve the problem. When I check the
ethernet and Wireless adapters, I find that the Client for Microsoft Networks
and File and print sharing options are not selected. If I select these
options, and press apply, an error window appears stating that these
selections will be disabled. I also noticed that there is a bridge adapter
which I was not aware of. The delete option is greyed out on all of the
connections so I cannot delete them to have them recreated. Any suggestions
would be appreciated.
