I have two computers,a desktop and a laptop.I have connected them via a
wireless adsl router and a wireless card in the laptop.i can connect to the
internet from both but i cannot seem to access folders and files on each
different computer.I have ran the setup home network wizard and named them
both and also with the same login and passwords on both.In my network
connections folder i do not have either computer icon in there. How is it
possible to share the folders/files and printers together. Also do i activate
the encryption option on just the card in the laptop,or on both? i am using
Win XP pro with SP1 o both systems

Thanks

Right click on the folder or the drive you want to share
between the computers, click on Sharing & Security.
Check on share this folder. Provide permission to access
with the Permission button just below.

View the computers in the work group through "My Network
places" Select the files & share them!!

Good Luck

andru -

had much the same problem; everything seemed to work.
could ping out but not the computer, internet worked, ran
the wizard umpteen times in every possible config, got the
user/pass the same on each machinetried everything.
finally decided to mess with the router by upgrading the
firmware and when it rebooted with the firmware,
everything worked. it was either that (who knows, i'm
using a netgear mr314) or what a friend tells me a messed
up ARP table. what it does is assign IP addresses to MAC
addresses (NICs). so try rebooting before you search for a
firmware upgrade ( ? )

with regards to Robert-L's question, if you get an "error
type 53" which i'm told is a nameserver problem, which is
what i got, maybe this will help.

in general, these forums would be much better if people
searched and read, or if somebody compiled an FAQ
on what's been learned here. the chicagotech.net site
helps, but it's a little confusing--too much
information at once, and i'm not sure what i'm looking for
in the first place.
