I cannot see my domain at my new host

I moved my Front Page web site to a new host and changed the domain settings
at Network Solutions. Shortly thereafter my email started appearing on the
new host server and my web site at the new host could be viewed over the
internet. However on my computer my IE6 browser only sees the domain at the
old host. There is another computer in the house connected to the same hub
and it sees the new host web site. When I phoned my ISP (Verizon) the person
said it was probably my browser settings or Windows XP firewall that is
causing the problem. My email program (Eudora) also does not see the new
host and when I type "ping mail.mywebsite.com" at the DOS prompt it does not
see it. What settings on my computer should I change? Thanks.

It may take up to 72 hours for all DNS servers to pick up the change around
the world. In other words, it depends on how often your ISP (Verizon)
updates their DNS servers that serve your internet connection/account.

Close IE and OE
Open a command window.
Type: ipconfig /flushdns and press enter.
Reopen IE and OE and try it.

Steve,

Thanks for the excellent suggestion. I did what you said, and got a message
that it successfully flushed the dns revolver cache, but I still get the old
web host. I restarted my computer, cleaned out the IE history etc but no
luck. More suggestions?

But there is another computer on my lan network with the same ISP that does
see the new host. Therefore it must be my computer.

Search the computer for a file named Hosts
with no extension.
If found open in Notepad.

See if it contains an entry pointing the domain name
to the old IP address. If so remove the entry and then save the file.

Select save as, and save it like this: "Hosts" with the quotes
so it will save without an extension.

minutes (or flush), the turn back on and start you computers.

Hi Darryl,
Clean out your temp & temp' internet folders.
If you have the ip address for the old server, open win explorer & search
for it.
search> 111.222.333.555
Then search the registry.
run>regedit edit>find 111.222.333.555
Also search for the URL mail.mywebsite.com

Delete any ref's you find and reboot.
