I get a User Account error when I try to set up scheudled tasks. I can go
through the steps to set up the task, then at the very last step I get an
error "new task was created, but it may not run because account information
was not set up.

I am logged into this computer as the ADMIN. I have tried setting up a task
with a ADMIN user name and password and with my ADMIN account set up without
a password. Both will not work.

XPHome SP@.

Thanks!

Dear Tammie,

That should work. You *need* a password though, blank won't work.

Try creating a new admin user called Robot and assign a good password.

Now run your scheduled task using the Robot account. You won't see the
task running though - as it runs in the background. That could be
either a good thing - or not what you wanted. You need to decide.

If you want to see the task running then using ADMIN and a valid
password will work. ( Remember to log off and on after assigning a
password to ADMIN!! )

Hope that helps.

Scheduled Tasks - Applying/Running tasks without a password

For Pro: Go to Start/Administrative Tools/'Local Security Policy/Security
Settings\Local Policies\Security Options
Accounts: Limit local account use of blank passwords to console logon only.
This is enabled by default, disable it.

For Home: (Keith Miller) Go to Start/Run/Regedit and navigate to this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa

Value name: limitblankpassworduse, Type: REG_DWORD, Data: 0 (disabled) 1
(enabled)

For Home: Run Scheduled Task without a Password (Line 67)
