Cannot save movie with mm2

Hi experts,

I have the following problem:

A notebook and a desktop, both running XP prof. I import a video file
from my sony dv camera and save it on the notebook. Importing the file
(.avi) into mm2 on the notebook and saving parts of it there works. When
I copy the file to my desktop, I can import the file and view the whole
project, but when trying to save the movie I always get the error
message 'cannot save' without reasonable explanation. It is totally
independant of the output format. I can save some other videos.

I think, it might have to do something with the installed codecs. For
this reason I uploaded the lists of the codes to these addresses:

http://thecorporation.net/desktop.gif (does NOT save)
http://thecorporation.net/notebook.gif (does save)

I'd be more than happy if someone could give me an idea how to resolve
this annoying problem.

TIA and have a nice day

Thomas

Thank you for the quick answer, PapaJohn (funny nickname ;-)). I
couldn't
find a download link there or do I have to download the whole sdk?

Anyway, I already installed 'ffShow_MPEG4_Codec.zip' from Micsoroft,
which should include the latest codecs, I thought. But that didn't
change anything.

Thanks again

Thomas

| Thomas,
|
| You are probably right. Try downloading and installing the full set of

Correction:

I didn't mean 'ffShow_MPEG4_Codec.zip' it is 'WM9Codecs.exe'.

Sorry

Thomas

Thomas,

Yes, I see what you mean about having to get the SDK package.

Others have gotten the codecs by downloading the Windows Media Encoder -
there's a link to it at the bottom of the Setup... Software page of
www.papajohn.org

I guess I need another link to just the codec package - I'll see if I can
find it.

PapaJohn,

Thanks again, but this was installed already.

Uh, I wish I had an answer :-(

Thomas

P.S. Is there a way to uninstall all codecs and reinstall them later,
one by one? I even don't know which are the ones I really need.

Thomas, I did some more checking and updated the Setup... Software page of

www.papajohn.org

with a new link at the bottom - to get only the codec packages.
