whenever i try to save a .jpg file i get the option to
only save it as .bmp file.

how can i revert my settings such that i can save pictures
from the internet such as .jpg files as jpg & bmp as bmp.

What program are you using to save the file?
Microsoft Paint, Kodak Imaging:
Click File | Save As...
Click the box next to Save as type:
Change to JPEG
Click the [Save] button

Hi, sphilip.

Empty your Internet cache:

From IE, click Tools | Internet Options... On the first (General) tab,
Delete Files...

While you have that screen open, you might want to click the Advanced tab,
scroll down to Security, and check the box to Empty the TIF files every time
you close IE - especially if you have broadband, which can reload a file
almost as fast as it can retrieve it from the cache.

The usual fix for this is to empty your cache. In Internet Explorer, click
Tools | Internet Options... On the first (General) tab, click Delete
Files...
