I am unable to uninstall or repair any software installed using MS
Installer. I now noticed that Windows\Installer is empty and many icons
like PDF, PSP files have changed to icon usually assigned to unknown
document types. Moreover software program icons have changed to DOS Exe
files though clicking on them launches the program. Installer produces
following error:-
The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package.
This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2869.

The arguments are: SetupError, ,
Please advise how to resolve this issue as I am even unable to upgrade some
software program.
