Tried to Detect/Repair MS Office 2003. After inserting disc, I keep getting
Error 1311, Source File not found. Verify that file exists and you can
access it.
D:\ZF561407.CAB
Tried searching and Microsoft
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=k...d=2488&sid=492 gives a
workaround: Create Administrative Installation Point.
Looked CAIP up but am no wiser.
Is there an idiot's guide for this?

Not XP related, you should post in an office group.

Hi Smirnoff,

Was the original install done from the CD or from a directory on the
hard disk?

Some new machines that come with Office pre-installed actually
expect the install/repair to be done from the hard disk/directory
that the original install was done from. I know this is the case
with HP laptops and may be true with other manufacturers.

Ciao . . . C.Joseph

The problem was that Dell installed Office from an older disk, not the one
supplied with my machine. I used Widows Install Cleanup to remove all
traces of original install and then did a new install with supplied disk.
I did post the solution earlier.
