Cannot remove unwanted icon from desktop

I cannot remove an unwanted icon from the desktop. The icon is named
CAINEFM1. When I try to delete, I get an error: "Cannot delete file:
Cannot read from the source file or disk."

When I get a DOS prompt and go to the dirctory, this file is not
listed. When I search for it, I can't find it. Norton does not give any
alert over it. Spybot says nothing about it. It does not seem to be
anywhere on my HDD, but it does show up on my desktop. Shredder
software gives an error.

File properties show a path of C:\Documents and Settings\user1\Desktop
for the file. But it has a file size of zero bytes.

Can anyone suggest a way to get rid of this thing?

Got someone on your computer that is or was into games? It's a left over
from a Chinese game which apparently someone uninstalled and it left behind
the icon. You might try making a folder, seeining if you can move the icon
into the folder and then deleting the folder.

Try this little app.>>
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Securit...-Killbox.shtml

It's called Killbox and it helped me a few weeks ago with a similar
problem(file) that I couldn't delete. Just make sure you click on the option
to delete the file on reboot.

I had the very same problem. This is what I did: open RegEdit and search for
every entry by that name (data, values, names, keys) and delete them. I only
deleted 2 entries and it disappeared.

Try booting in safe mode and deleting it.
