Has anyone experienced this problem before. I accidently
formatted the first hard drive (System) on a 6 disk
Win2003 (recently upgraded) server (no RAID configured)
now i am experiencing some weird stuff in disk management
saying that here is a phontom disk missing and you can't
get rid of it. Then i stumbled across this article from
MSoft.

Has anyone had any experience with this? Does the work
around work? The main problem this is causing me is that
is seems that backup exec 8.5 must use the first system
disk as a reference to the Server media.
The reason for thinking this is that now when i am in the
Backup selections window of backup exec all it shows is
the server name and "connection with server failed hit F5
to retry". The veritas fix for this is related to
services but there are nothing wrong with mine. This
problem has started immediately after my little accident.
I have tried complete reinstalls and nothing works. The
other thing is that the installation of Backup exec is on
the 2nd physical disk, and there is another veritas
directory on the root of the first disk. So it seems that
it points to some kind of requirement to have a correct
set up of that 1st physical disk.
I haven't tried the work around in the MS article yet,
wanted to here about anyone else's ideas first. I also
tried to fix the prob by doing a dummy install of W2K on
that 1st disk and even though it worked, the disk dropped
off line momentarily but came back. The Missing disk is
still there and i still can't get the system to boot of
the 1st disk, i am using a diskette with Boot.ini, Ntldr
and ntdetect.com to boot up.
Any ideas
