It's a Compaq laptop that came in with a bum XP home upgrade. I uninstalled
XPhome back to ME and corrected isssues like removing EZ CD Creator 4 and
NSW 2003. The reinstall refused and the compatibility said the blocking
issue was that I had more than one operating system installed. Not true.
How could the previous tech have done the upgrade if this were true? For
now, I'm going to reinstall Me on top of itelf to preserve my client's stuff
and then try again. It must be seeing both ME and the old XP install.
Also, when I boot up with the XP cd, it says it CANT find an operating
system at all; therefore not qualifying for upgrade. Go figure.

This is a tough one. I suggest you look for signs of other windows folders. Are you
multi-booting? Is the XP Upgrade CD an OEM version?

Real tough so far. My upgrade attempt is a retail xp home CD. I don't know
what the previous xp home install was. It seemed legit, but installed
without the proer preparation. I just reinstalled ME on top of itself with
no positive results. I booted up with partition magic and see not hidden
partitions. I'll check for other windows folders. TIA

I found no other windows-type folders but I am deleting the Documents and
Settings Folder since that is a non-ME thing.
