Check if if helps to shut down your computer and remove the power from
your modem for at least 30 seconds.

Check if you now need to enter your username in Windows Mail with no
CAPITAL LETTERS. Check if you now need to enter your user name
followed by the part of your email address starting with @. If none of
these help, you may need to call Sky and tell then about the problem.

Go to Tools, Accounts, select the sky.com account, Properties, Servers,
unselect the box for "Logon using Secure Password Authentication."

I have alredy tried that!

I have also tried uninstalling McAfee, uninstalling mail account, rebooting,
reinstalling mail account, then rebooting again.

And shuting down and removeing the power as suggested.

No luck

I also tried SKY helpline who told me it was a miocrosort problem.

What i can't understand is it was working fine before

I have now tried that too (thanks), follwed by reboot and reloading the
account details as before
The only difference it made is I am now getting this error message

Oh and I definately have no errant capitals!

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for
this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity. Account: 'pop.tools.sky.com', Server: 'pop.tools.sky.com',
Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

You did not mention this change, but on this go-around you have turned
off SSL on port 995. You must enable SSL for that port. Here is an extract
from your ISP's email setup instructions:

1. Go to Tools, Accounts.
2. Highlight pop.tools.sky.com under Account, and click Properties.
3. Click the Advanced tab.
4. Check the box next to This Server Requires A Secure Connection (SSL)
under Outgoing Mail (SMTP).
5. Enter 465 in the Outgoing mail (SMTP): field.
6. Check the box next to This Server Requires A Secure Connection (SSL)
under Incoming Mail (POP3). The port will change to 995.
7. Click the Servers tab, and check the box next to My Server Requires
Authentication.

Thanks again, but it is still not working. I have now done everything in the
last email, rebooted and am getting the following message:
Account: 'pop.tools.sky.com', Server: 'pop.tools.sky.com', Protocol: POP3,
Server Response: '-ERR not supported m4pf1572254ugc.0', Port: 995,
Secure(SSL): Yes, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC18

Thanks!

So I went and looked it up. If you follow the instructions I found
(http://www.sky.com/Assets/PDF/StaticFiles/720010.pdf)
your POP3 server would be pop.sky.com and the port would be 110 for POP3.
SSL would not be checked.

Have you verified that the option "Log on using Secure Password
Authentication" is not enabled?
