I can send but not receive email. There is no message on the bottom bar
saying it is trying, or an error message - nothing at all seems to happen
when I click the send/receive button or press f9.

Are you viewing the send/receive dialogue box?

I wasn't at first - just looking at the bar at the bottom of the screen. The
dialogue box says only that one task has been completed. Maybe it means
sending b/c this is working ok.

If it is not receiving email, view the send/receive progress so that you can
see any errors that should crop up. Also check your Application Event Viewer
for any Office-related errors. I would be particularly interested in the
eventID and source.
