Hi,

Ive been trying to fix my sisters computer for her with no luck. A few days
ago, after she did a windows update or something of the sort, whenever her
computer would try to boot up, it would stop at the logo splash screen and
automatically reboot. I accessed safe mode and tried to do a System Restore,
no luck. Tried to access the System Recovery Console, but it wont even
accpect her master password (it had SP2 on there so I dont think its the
password bug). Then I tried to do a repair install, but it made it worse
because not only would it crash at the splash screen before it could start
the installation, but now I cant even access safe mode because it saids its
in the middle of the setup and forces it to reboot.

I installed another copy of windows onto another drive to help troubleshoot,
but nothing ive done has worked. Messed with winconfig to change the bootup,
tried to use sfc to check the file system, tried to crash the first part of
install to get it to give me the option of canceling the install, no luck.
Is it possible to cancel the Windows Repair Install so I can access safe
mode again? Anyway I could repair windows from the outside using the other
install? Or am I wasting my time on this?

Anything can happen, if you want to save her files, take it out ( no
need to bolt it ) & slave it to another HD. You may have a choice of
jumper settings on the master HD, such as master with slave or ms.

Ok, the latter one did help, and with some messing with the registry I
managed to cancel the windows setup for now. I can still only go inside with
safe mode, but now if i try to to use it with networking it gives me a error
that my activation key is messed up. Cant figure out how this happened since
I never touched any of the keys for that, but I used safe mode to back up
most of her stuff using FAST. Cant get sfc to work in safe mode, and im
stumped on what else I could do...any way I could fix it in safe mode or
cause the repair to avoid the loop? And also I canceled the auto reboot so
now I can see the extact blue screen error...you need me to send that info?

All you do now is put that info into a search engine such as google.
