My WinXP Pro system is having some issues. When I insert a new CD into a
drive, it can't be read. I'm prompted with "Please insert a disk into drive
[drive letter]". This also occurs with my DVD+R drive, and my Zip 100
Internal drive. In all cases, if the system is started or rebooted with a
disk in the drive, it can read them fine, and will also be able to read any
other disks that I try after that. It appears that if there is no media in
the drive at startup, nothing can be read from that drive.
The drive letters appear in My Computer, and I'm even able to eject from My
Computer, so I know that there is communication and recognition. In the
hardware profile, nothing shows an error -- all are working properly.
Does anyone have an idea what this could be caused by? I've been trying
everything and anything to fix this!
Thanks in advance for any help!
Tony
