The first time I connect after start-up there is NO PROBLEM. But if I
dis-connect manually, then try to re-connect later, I get a message "all
devices connected", and must re-start my system. After a re-start, I can
connect ONCE ONLY, then the same problem occurs.
I've been using a US Robitics USB modem for a couple of years and never had
this problem until recently.

I would go to USR and download their latest drivers and install.
