Hello,

I've been having problems trying to publish my exisiting, and on line,
FrontPage 2000 web site into FrontPage 2003.

I want to get my old FrontPage 2000 web site into FrontPage 2003 so I can
edit, maintain and start publishing it using the new features available in
FP2003.

I've tried to publish it 'Remote to Local' but it does not port over
correctly. And, I've tried to make a copy from FrontPage 2000 on a CD and
open it into FrontPage 2003, but that did not work correctly either.

Can someone tell me proper step involved with the navigation path to
accomplish this task?
--
Thank you in advance.

Open the live/remote site directly in FP via File Menu | Open Site, then once open, use File Menu |
Publish Site to publish to a location on your HD.

Hi Thomas,

When I enter FP 2003 and go to the file menu --> Open Site - there is no
where to select a remote (on line) site...it appears only items on your Hard
Drive are available?

Thanks,

Randy J.

Hello,

OK - I am now able to get my on line web site into FP 2003 (as the Local) -
but I am still having problems...I am unclear as to how to make up a folder
or web site on the (remote) to enable the on line web site to be copied into
FP2003? It appears that folders don't work...and if I make up a "dummy" web
site I am getting the message, "You specified identical destination filenames
for some of the file names you are trying to copy. Make sure all destination
files have unique names and try again." I can't find the information to do
this task in my reference book: FrontPage 2003 Bible, by Curt Simmons.

Thanks,

Randy J.

If your live site is hosted on an Unix server, the duplicate file
names are caused by multiple files with the same spelling, but
different cAsE. Example:
Index.htm and index.htm are seen as two different files on Unix, but
as the same file in Windows.
Check the live site for duplicate names in all folders, and rename one
of the files to remove the Windows duplication. (Note files with the
same name in different folders are not a problem.)

I think you need to clarify what you mean by "copy into FP
2003". Files are not copied into FP, they are opened and
managed by FP. You can copy files to your hard drive or to
the server, though. So which "copying" are you referring to?

Hello,

I did my 'original' and on line web site in FP2000 (it is currently
published and working on the internet.) Now, I have a new PC with FP2003
installed. I am trying to 'copy' my current, and on line, web site (done in
FP2000) into my new version of FP2003 so I can get a 'master' copy of my web
site and start to update it and add new features to it. I don't know if
"copy" is the proper term...it seems that "publish" is the proper term?

Thank you,

Randy J.

Publish is the correct term
Open the online web in FP and publish it to your PC
