Cannot print without rebooting - Windows XP USB to Canon BJC 1000

I cannot perform more than one print job without rebooting.

I have WinXP Service Pack 2 and my Canon BJC is connected to a Dell Inspiron
1150 via a USB port. The drivers are fine, however the status of the print
job does not change after the print job is complete until I reboot the
computer. This is very frustrating.

Can someone help me with my problem?

I have a 250mb zip drive attached to another USB port, but I disconnect it
when I print, and I still have the problem. I read the posts regarding the
Hub power source. Is the problem the power source? Do I need to buy a
separate source for my printer?

Thank you.
