After the upgrade to SP3 could not print acrobat or TIF
files to any select network printers. When click on print
or from file print it does nothing, no output.

Alternatively, had to change the association to open with
internet explorer to be able to print.

If these network printers were redirected, did you try
this hotfix:

support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;[LN];328020
