I have familly pictures in jpeg format in mypicture folder I was sending via
email and it asked me to compress or remain same size I choose compress and
sent pictures using outlook express, when I went back into folder to send
pictures to another relative there is no preview in the thumbnail but there
is an icon when I tried to view them it say "no preview availible". I checked
properties the jpeg size is the same as original just no picture I've looked
thru microsoft downlod page and d/l photoinfo setup but this did not help I
even email relative original pictures was sent to they wrote back that they
can not open them also again "no preview availible", I have never had this
problem in the pass so havent backed up my picture folder in a year now im
worried as there are pictures from a familly reunion that cannot be replaced
and I have only copies. Is there a solution or have I lost these pictures
forever and if I have lost them what the hell happened is there a bug in
windows fax/pictures or in the compresion when sending via email.

Difficult to say what happened.
Try something as given below and tell us if this works.
Make a new folder and copy one of the picture in the new folder. Then try to
open it. Does this work?
Right click on a photo and click on Open with then select Paint on the
opening list to open it. Does this works?
Download the free photo editing software:
www.irfanview.com
then try to open a photo using this software. Does this works?
