I recently had Windows XP re installed. Now my Windows Mediia Player
won't play about half of my *.avi files saying it doesn't support the
file type??
Should I download Real Player or can I somehow get WMP to remmenber
how it use to play these films?

AVI files are almost always compressed... and the two most common codecs are
the DiVX and xVid codecs. www.divx.com and www.xvidmovies.com You'll need
to have them installed before you can play the files.

Thanks for your reply. These two programs helped a lot but their are
still quite a few films showing the same problem. Are their any other
codecs I can install?

compress the file(s):
