I have a cable modem & wireless router setup running win xp(sp2), two
desktops are fed cat5, two laptops wirelessly.

When I run cmd I cannot ping any address.

I am running TrendMicro Internet Security Suite 2007.

Any ideas as to how to correct this?

I can connect to my router's page via the web but when I ping
192.168.1.1 I get timed-out.

Sounds more like a trend micro issue than a Windows XP issue. If you
don't get any replies here, you may want to contact Trend Micro.

Perhaps in the Trend config is a "Allow Ping" or "ICMP" option?

Hello, I get the same problem running the Trend Micro security package. To
ping a URL I either had to disable TM or use this address:
http://www.all-nettools.com/toolbox,net to ping from within Firefox/IE7.

Some program is blocking ICMP packets. One suspect would be a firewall.

Doesn't Trend come with its own firewall? If so, you should make certain
that it will pass ICMP. And, if you are using another firewall as well,
turn one of them off.
