Started yesterday getting this message:
Account:'bellsouth.net,' Server: 'mail.bellsouth.net,' Protocol:
POP3,Server Response:--ERR authorization not enabled, Port: 110, Secure
(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number 0x800CCC18

I have to go into Email via Bellsouth home page to get any email which I
detest. What can I do so I can just click on Windows Mail and get my email
again like I was two days ago? Thanks for any help! Susan

Tried that and it still won't open mail. (Thanks anyway.) The same error
message comes up. Any idea what to do next?

to blame?

You might try harder to check if your email account under Windows Mail
is set up properly:

<http://help.bellsouth.net/bellsouth/asp/browse_subfolder.asp?sprt_fid=0a41840c-0baf-4379-9f63-f578f49fee77>

<http://help.bellsouth.net/bellsouth/asp/contentview.asp?isbrowse=true&sprt_cid=24dbf61a%2D2ce9%2D4192%2Da589%2D121587e364c2>

You might even have to remove your email account under Windows Mail
and then create it again, to make sure all the defaults are set right.

Also, what if any antivirus programs do you have? Some of them cause
assorted problems in Windows Mail, although seldom immediately.

Will the Windows Mail program run, but not open mail? If so, is mail
piling up in the Outbox and can you delete the oldest message in the
Outbox?

I went to my net provider cox.net under tech support How to configure windows
mail in windows vista for SSL/POP basically re-settup, and my incoming mail
pop adress changed from a pop.central to a spop east and checked secure ssl.
sorry for the confusion, go to your provider and resetup according to them,
worked for me. something changed on there end, or i reconfigured a different
way?

To all who replied, I did finally get the problem solved by doing one more
thing according to the Bellsouth (now AT&T) problem solving document for
verifying email. Whew! I do run McAfee Security Center but haven't had this
problem ever before. I haven't installed any of the latest/greatest Windows
updates because I like to read "reviews" of them and find out if they're
causing blue screens or whatever to others first. (Guess that means I like
to see others get zapped first, doesn't it? Sorry!) Thanks for at least
guiding me in the right direction for this to get fixed. Susan

Most versions of McAfee antivirus software tend to cause various problems
in Windows Mail, although seldom immediately. So do most versions of
Norton antivirus software and a recent version from Trend. They are likely
to cause more problems in Windows Mail than the Windows updates, just
not as soon. Remember where to find us if you need help with this.
