I am having trouble opening my outlook. The icon in the right hand side of
the taskbar indicates an "X" and I cannot open outlook. Have no idea what is
wrong. Can someone help me please. I have 2007 Microsoft Office Standard.
I can open word and excel, but not outlook.

This means that Outlook is currently running as a process only. Probably it
hangs on shutdown because of an add-in or has been started by another
applications that relies on outlook.exe in order to function such as fax
software.
For instructions on how to troubleshoot see;

press Go.......... Well, this sounds great, but I cannot get into Outlook

Does the this icon already show directly when starting your computer?
Otherwise you'll have to kill the outlook.exe process first via Task
Manager; CTRL+SHIFT+ESC
