this just popped up this morning. When you use Internet Explorer to open a
website, only one Internet Explorer window will open. You cannot open two. If
you try to open another Internet Explorer session, it simply takes the place
of the first one. I can go to My Computer and type in the web address there
and open multiple sessions, but any of those that open ANOTHER Internet
Explorer window will revert to the Internet Explorer problem above if any of
them need the window.

So, it looks like something with Internet Explorer itself, not Explorer in
general. I have checked the security settings and firewall settings and have
not found anything out of the ordinary. My virus and trojan files are current
as well. Anyone have a clue as to what this could be? Thanks in advance.

You don't mention the version of Windows you are using, which really is a
must when asking for help in the newsgroups, but, try the following as it
may apply
to your OS and see if it helps:

How to allow multiple windows

Go to Tools> Internet Options> Advanced.
Uncheck "Reuse windows for launching shortcuts".

If you have any 3rd party toolbars such as Google, MSN or Yahoo, disable
them. Yahoo Companion is known to cause this problem. If you have it,
uninsatll it. If you have any 3rd party If you have any 3rd party software,
popup or ad blockers, disable them. You can also try using Ctrl+click or
Shift+click to see if it will allow a new window.

and....

To keep more than one browser window open at a time, click File in the main
menu, select New, then Window. To close a browser window, click the X in the
top right-hand corner or select Close from the File menu. You can also open
a new browser window with Ctrl+N.

If still no joy.....

Try these steps:
Open IE>Tools>Internet Options.
Select Advanced tab and click the Restore defaults button.
Later, select the Programs and click the Reset web settings button.
Click OK.
