cannot open a link in a mail message, only open my home page

Hello, Help please
I receive e-mail messages that contain links that I may click on to open a
page, but when I do so it only open up my home page, any ideas of how to fix
this,

When i had this happen i had to re-associate the .html and .url extensions
back to my default internet browser. I did it by :
MY COMPUTER | TOOLS | OPTIONS | FILE TYPES (tab)
