Incoming jpg photo attachments cannot be opened. When I click on an attached
file, the message "Windows can't find jpg file" appears. Get the same error
if I want to open an outgoing jpg file. Have not made any changes to the
computer other than adding IE8, but this problem occured before installing
that. Reboots don't help and haven't found anything in troubleshooting that
addresses this issue. Any ideas. Thanks.

The "Windows can't find jpg file" error message seems to be uniquely
related to the IE8 installation, which somehow seems to corrupt a pointer
to the Temporary Internet Files (TIF) folder. The only known fix at this
time is to uninstall IE8: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/957700

The problem you had prior to IE8 may be unrelated, and should have a
different error message.

OK, thanx. Seems as if I read something about this issue with IE8. I don't
remember what the previous message said before the IE8 install. Maybe I'll
get rid of IE8 or just got to Firefox.

When you uninstall IE8, IE7 will return.

I'm sure there will be announcements here, if and when a fix or
workaround for the IE8 issue is made available.

I would also like to tell you I appreciate very much the information about
jpg attachments in windows mail with IE8. I've looked everywhere for the
answer and then remembered this forum. It's been driving me crazy trying to
figure it out! One question I have about it is when I go back to using IE7
will I still be able to have my gmail forwarded to my Windows Mail account?
I didn't use that feature until after installing IE8 so I'm hoping that
feature is also available with IE7. Any help would be appreciated. Thank
you!

You're very welcome. Don't worry, Internet Explorer has no effect on
your basic ability to send and receive mail with Windows Mail.

Do you think Micro Soft Window Up date will solve the problem later on? Then
I don't have to unstall IE8 to fix the problem.
Thank you!
Eric

Hi Bob,
Do you think Miscrosoft Window Up Date will fix the problem later on? Then,
I don't have to uninstall IE8. (It is because soon or later we will have to
upgrade to IE8).
Thank you!

I would not count on a fix for IE8 being released soon.
Microsoft has not even acknowledged that there is a problem.
