I posted this question before and got one reply which I tried with no
success. If I try to open Help and Support by clicking Start, the hourglass
appears briefly but nothing opens. Task manager says nothing is running. If I
try to open any Help files in Office, an empty window opens top left of the
screen but it is empty. Other apps on the PC which use Help that is not an
html file or a link to the web also give me erros such as they cannot find
the Help file or it must be corrupted or re-install the application. I have
replaced the HelpCtr key in the registry, I have created a new admin level
account in case my account is corrupt and still I can find no solution. None
of the remedies on the MS support newsgroups sem to fit.
Does anyone have a suggestion?
Thx in advance
Tony

Thanks for the tip I downloaded your registry patch to the desktop and
successfully imported it to the registry but the bhaviour is exactly the same
except for one change - now if I choose Help and Support from the Start menu,
Windows says it cannot find the file HelpCtr.exe. MS Office apps behave the
same way and so do the other apps that give Help errors !!
Any ideas for another fix?

Think your Registry needs "cleaning"? Read
