We are running Windows Server 2003. I recently installed FrontPage 98 and created our intranet site. This was working well for about 2 months. Frontpage locked up on a user and I had to reinstall Frontpage. As far as I can tell I did nothing differently the second time. Now when I open frontpage it brings up the open web box. It shows the two web sites that we have on our server using frontpage 98 but when you try to open them it gives two errors.

"Frontpage personal web server is not able to use port 80. There may already be another web server running.

an

"Server error: There is no web named "/amdtest

Any help is greatly appreciated.

You need to uninstall FrontPage.

Reboot and then reinstall it but do a custom install and only install the
Explorer and Editor portions. Do not let it install PWS.

1. FP doesn't need to be installed on the server.

2. When you installed FP98, did you do a custom install and un-select the installation of the FP98
extensions and PWS?

3. You need to install FP98, the FP98 extensions and the PWS. You may need to actual reformat the
server.

I uninstalled and rebooted. I made sure not to install
PWS when I reinstalled. Now when I try to open the web it
says "There is no server on port 80 at 'server'. I had
this error previously and it was because I did not have
PWS installed.

1. I know it doesn't have to be on the server.
2. I installed the PSW and all the extensions both times
I installed it.
3. I will try reinstalling it again but this is what I
did the first time. Why would I have to reformat?

What are you using as your workstation, Windows 2000 Pro or Windows XP Home or Windows XP Pro?

Windows 2003 is a server OS, not really meant to be used as Workstation. But which version are you
running Windows 2003 Web Edition or Windows 2003 Standard Edition.

Windows 2003 server comes with IIS as a the web server, you would never install PWS on any MS Server
OS.
