What happens when you try?
Can you save them to disk and then open them?
It might be as simple as the association for that file type is missing.

Bill,

Nothing happens when I left-click on an email attachment which is an email
itself. Saving it doesn't work--it shows as an Outlook file. I can forward
it to another computer on my network and open it--using the same Outlook 2000
version and could open such an attachment on the computer on which I'm having
a problem until just recently.

If you save it what extension does that saved file have?
Check the extension then look for the association for that extension on the
machine where it works. Copy the association.

Bill,

I can't associate it. The file name is " SV (1.53 MB).msg" (the quotes are
part of the file name as it appears in the Save Attachment dialog box).

Just the be clear: the attachemnt icon is an envelope, which contains a
fowarded email.

I am having the same problem. I click on any attachment that is a
message itself (.msg) and nothing happens except a very brief
hourglass cursor. I can save the attachment to disk and read it.
Other file types (such as .txt documnets) work ok.

This just started happening.

Do you have the Google Desktop installed? I had this problem on 2 different
computers running Xp pro and office 2003. Removing the Google Desktop solved
the problem.
