Whenever I try to open the top site default.aspx in front page I get the
following error.

The server could not complete your request.

It works fine on subsites default.aspx.

I am using WSS 2.0 and Frontpage 2003

I opened the site and then am trying to edit the default.aspx file.

I am the administrator of the top level also.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

While you've got the live web open, try tools/ recalculate hyperlinks.
sometimes that'll straighten things out.
