I am using a laptop with Microsoft Windows XP home edition v 2002 service
pack 2
I recently had a problem with a virus. I cleaned it. After that, however, I
was unable to open C drive:

1) I open My computer, and I can see the icon of Local drive (C):
2) If I double-click on the icon, the following window comes up; Open with
Chose the program you want to use to open the file

Suggestions, please

Right click on drive c: then select explore, inside c: drive find the file
"autorun.ini" and delete it (the file autorun.ini may be hided) then install
antivirus and scan your computer for viruses.

Thank you, Lab. However, if I right click on drive C: and and select Explore,
the window comes up; Open with: Chose the program you want to use to open the
file

This problem also occurs when I double-click.

However, if I open Word, or Excel, or search, I am able to see files inside C:

Any other suggestion?

It should be C:\autorun.inf (not .ini)

If you can see it from Word/Excel/Search, you can delete it from there by
right-clicking on the file and doing a "Delete". However if the file is hidden
you'll need to configure explorer to show hidden files.

Another way to go about it is to open a cmd prompt (Start > Run... > CMD)
and type

attrib -r -s -h c:\autorun.inf

del c:\autorun.inf
