Hello I have a pc which has 4GB Ram installed. I have Outlook, Excel, Word,
IE8, and a couple of other applications e.g. say 6 applications in total,
when I want to open a 7th application my computer is so slow and all the
other applications are affected. The only way I can get to use e.g. the 7th
application is by closing another application down. My virtual memory is set
at 2046 Initial size 4092 maximum. Any ideas please as the PC is only 6
months old

Is the computer a desktop or a laptop?

Is the system over dependent on using the pagefile?

Try Ctrl+Alt+Delete to select Task Manager and click the Performance
Tab. Under Commit Charge what is the Total, the Limit and the Peak?

You should be able to gather more information from Task Manager. With
the Processes tab open select View, Select, Columns and check the boxes
before Peak Memory Usage and Virtual Memory size. What are the figures
for the 6 processes using the largest amounts?

What anti-virus and anti-spyware software is installed?
