cannot open any links in the email in Outlook 2000

In the last week, my computer updated Microsoft automatically, and since
then, I cannot open any link in any email and sometimes I am unable to read
the email. I have Outlook 2000 SR-1 and Windows XP.

When I open the Task Manager, I get a "Not Responding" on both Outlook and
the email and I have no choice but to cancel (or close) both.
