Cannot move or delete MP3 files

Window XP Pro SP2
Windows Media Player 10

When I try to move or delete a MP3 file,
it gives the following error:
"Cannot move file: It is being used by another person or program."

Does Windows Media Player lock MP3 files so you cannot move them?
I am unclear if it is a service in the background or Windows Media Player
somehow running in the background.

Thank you for your feedback.

When I still had WMP 10 before upgrading to WMP 11, there was no
problem moving mp3 files anywhere I wished. I don't use the WMP
library system, since it does not fit my needs well. Rather I classify
music and video files using my own system and do not give the WMP or
any other player library access to classify my media files in them.
Else I would get a library that is different for each of several
players. For example, the WMP does not play real media, so there would
be little point in having it in a WMP library, even if this can be
done, since you can't play Real media on the WMP. If the mp3 files are
ones you paid for, then there could be some anticopy protection issue
that does not let you move the files. I block WMP for library searches
from everything I can. Since you apparently can not block searches of
My Music and My Videos, I just do not use these to store media.

All my MP3 files are not copy protected.
They are voice recordings.

As you suggested, I used the following setting:
WMP 10 | Tools | Options | Player tab | Uncheck - Add music files to library
when played

I closed WMP.
I tried moving the MP3 files to a different directory using File Explorer.

Same error message appeared.
"Cannot move file: It is being used by another person or program."

Thank you for your feedback.

Do you have any other media players installed?
